Love and other sorcery

Everleigh Miles Fae

I get asked a lot about my Fae languages. It's actually one language used across several series. It began with The Mage's Heart when Rivyn needed to toss out some magical words, and expanded in The Golden Dragon's Princess when I wanted Aurien to proclaim his love without Liera knowing it, and it's continued in The Ruinbound Bride - because why not use an established language? So what is the translation precisely?

First of all we need to establish the rules of the language:

Grammar Rules

Word Reversal (Sentence Construction)

  • The sentence is reversed in structure, somewhat like Latin or Yoda-style English.

    • Subject → Object → Verb becomes: Verb → Object → Subject

    • Ex: I love you → Love you I → Saer sa ith

  • In Fae, this also applies to simple statements:

    • It is yours, not mine → Yours it is, mine not → Evermae tal na sar
